USL Championship announced on Tuesday that Ottawa Fury FC forward Mour Samb’s explosive performance on Sunday of Week 13 earned him a spot on the Team of the Week. Samb contributed to every goal for Fury FC, scoring twice and adding two assists as Ottawa defeated the Charlotte Independence 4-1 at TD Place, which saw him finished second in overall Player of the Week voting throughout the league.
The Senegal native has spent time playing in Senegal with Diambars, two more seasons with LOSC Lille B in France, and more recently he played with Tromsø, one of the most prominent clubs in Norway, where he featured in 32 games. Samb is a dynamic forward with speed and good vision that has delivered some of that attacking power Fury FC has been looking for.
Samb’s teammate and co-conspirator on the Ottawa attack, Christiano François, also received a nod for his one goal, one assist performance on Sunday, making it to the 18-player weekly selection.
On a thrilling 6-game unbeaten streak and sitting in fourth position in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship, Fury FC is traveling to face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday (7 p.m., OttawaFuryFC.com).
