One of the most storied franchises in the USL, the Rhinos are among the league's founding members

With Fury FC making the transition to USL next season, fans can now start familiarizing themselves with the clubs Ottawa will be facing in their new league.

This week, we begin your USL introduction by highlighting five of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

First stop, Rochester.

One of the most storied franchises in the USL, the Rhinos are among the league’s founding members, alongside the Charleston Battery, the Charlotte Eagles, the Harrisburg City Islanders, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Richmond Kickers.

The Rhinos celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2015 and they found the best possible way to mark that significant milestone by capturing the club’s fourth league championship – their first in the league’s modern era.

The 2015 season was truly exceptional for the Rhinos and one current Fury FC member witnessed it, as defender Onua Obasi was part of the 2015 squad that won the league championship before heading north of the border. The Rhinos claimed both the regular-season title and the USL Championship, putting together a historic season at the defensive end, setting league records for shutouts and fewest goals conceded.

In 2016, the Rhinos were once again one of the most competitive teams in the Eastern Conference, wrapping up the campaign with a record of 13W-13D-5L for 51 pts, finishing 4th in the Conference. After defeating the Charlotte Independence 3-1 in the Conference Quarterfinals, before losing in the Semifinals 5-4 on penalty kicks against New York Redbulls II.
