As part of their partnership that was announced in December, Ottawa Fury FC added their first player from the Montreal Impact. The club announced Wednesday the signing of goalkeeper David Paulmin pending League and Federation approval.

Fury FC Head Coach and GM, Paul Dalglish, was part of the Impact’s training camp in Florida last week to evaluate the prospects to add to his squad and he is expected to add a few more players from Montreal shortly.

“David is a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential,” said Dalglish. “It’s a great opportunity for him to grow and learn alongside Bruce Grobbelaar and our two other goalkeepers. We’re delighted to bring the first player in from our partnership with Montreal and we are looking forward to bring a few more.”

Paulmin is a Canadian goalkeeper who developed within the Montreal Impact Academy, where he spent four years (2012-15), before signing his first pro contract in 2015 with FC Montreal. Over two seasons in the USL, the 21-year-old Sainte-Thérése, Québec native has featured in 17 games.

“For me it’s a new challenge and I like what I’ve seen and heard about this team,” said Paulmin. “I’m here to develop and help the team achieve some great results, so I’m really excited and look forward to the opportunity.”

Fury FC opened their 2017 training camp Monday at RA Centre in preparation for their inaugural USL season which will kick off on April 1 when they visit Saint Louis FC. It will be an all-Canadian affair for their home opener three weeks later when they host Toronto FC II on April 22 at TD Place.
