After a three month hiatus away from action, at least on the field, Ottawa Fury FC opened their 2017 season on Monday as training camp got underway at a torrent pace. Fury FC GM and Head Coach Paul Dalglish spend those three months building a squad that would identify with the style and culture he aims to employ in Ottawa. His squad, that features 9 returning players and 9 new faces (with a few more expected to follow) impressed Dalglish as camp got underway and he believes that the club has great potential this season.
“I’m excited, very excited. We have a team that will play with fire and that will be together. It’s my team and you can already see what a Paul Dalglish team looks like with real-high work rate, real-high energy and competitiveness. We want to be the hardest team to play against this year and it all starts at training.”
One of the nine returning player is midfielder Lance Rozeboom and he shared Dalglish’s excitement to get back to work.
“It’s been a long offseason, so we’re very happy to be back. It’s early in camp, but I think that we have a great group of guys. The coach believes in this group, we believe in this group and even if it’s only been a couple of days, I think that this team has great character.”
As of today, Fury FC have 18 players under contract for the 2017 season and all of them are currently taking part in the training camp, with the exception of Steevan Dos Santos, who is expected to join the team before the end of the week.
