A rivalry will be reborn April 21st at TD Place when Ottawa Fury FC host North Carolina FC in their 2018 Home Opener, the club announced Friday. Ottawa and Carolina (formerly the Carolina RailHawks) have featured in several spirited matches, none better than the first-ever win in Fury FC history when Ottawa claimed a 4-0 win on April 26, 2014.
“Winning at home is everything and our fans always make TD Place a difficult place for opposing teams,” said Julian de Guzman, General Manager of Ottawa Fury FC. “There is a history between our clubs and Carolina and we’re excited to renew this rivalry. To achieve our goals in 2018 we must be successful and consistent at home and this all starts on April 21.”
Ottawa and Carolina met three times each season from 2014-2016 while the two sides competed for NASL supremacy. Fury FC sport a record of 4W-3L-2D lifetime against NCFC with the two sides combining for 25 goals over those nine contests.
Fury FC will open the 2018 USL season March 17 in Charlotte against the Independence.
Earlier on Friday, the USL unveiled the 2018 Conference Alignment with Fury FC again competing in the USL Eastern Conference that includes rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies and another former NASL foe in Indy Eleven who joins the USL for the 2018 campaign.
