Ottawa Fury FC has added yet another Canadian talent to its roster, the club announced Tuesday, with the acquisition of Edmonton native Shamit Shome (Show-m), on a year-long loan from the Montreal Impact.
Shome, a young Canadian midfielder, joins Fury FC after being drafted in the second round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by the Impact. While he only featured in one contest with Montreal last season, he comes to Ottawa with an active 2016 season with FC Edmonton in NASL where he played over 1,800 minutes. During his time in Edmonton, he also started an NASL Playoff Semifinal game and a Canadian Championship game.
The 20-year-old made his international debut in the Canadian youth program in 2014 with his latest call-up coming this past January for a Men’s U-23 camp. Shome was also a standout at the University of Alberta where he was named Canada West Rookie of the Year and selected on the second All-Star team in 2015.
Ottawa’s next opponent will be Toronto FC II on Saturday March 31 from BMO Field. Ottawa Fury FC season tickets for the 2018 USL season are still available starting at $247 for adults and $190 for youth. Single game tickets are now also on sale online at OttawaFuryFC.com/Tickets, by calling 613.232.6767 x1 or in person at the TD Place Box Office.
